Sports Physicals

Participants must have a sports physical each year. An exam is good for 365 days. Once your exam is completed, you can turn it into the health office.

Winograd Cubs Athletic Policies

At Winograd, you must be eligible in the following ways:

  1. You must be present for at least 1/2 of the school day to participate in games or practices on that day. Exceptions: doctor appointment, emergency, or extenuating circumstances granted on a case-by-case basis.
  1.  If you are suspended, you will be out for one contest.

  1. You are still eligible to participate if you are late to practice or a game for academic reasons. You must have a pass from the teacher.

  1. If you have more than 1 F, you will not be eligible to travel or compete for that week. An exception to this rule is advisement. Eligibility is pulled on Monday and goes from Monday to Monday.

5. You must have a current physical on file and be registered.

Playing time is not guaranteed and will be affected if:

  1. The student is ineligible- 2 F’s in classes (advisement being the exception)

  2. The student has received ISS or OSS.

  3. The student does not attend practice the day before a contest (unless communicated).

  4. The student has not attended multiple practices within the week.

Playing sports is about much more than learning the physical skills of the game and winning championships. For students, playing sports is about having fun, building lifelong friendships, preparing to take on future challenges, learning how to be a good teammate, and simply enjoying the game.

So how can we as parents and coaches show up and support the student-athletes in our lives, regardless of performance or the outcome of the game? We sat down with high school students and asked them - why they play, how they feel about parental pressure, and what kind of support they need before, during and after the game.

Please read the Parents' Playbook that is linked below for more information.
