Beginning instrument players will not be settled into their instrument selection until the first week of school. More
information will be communicated from your music teacher during the first week of school. Please be prepared to
potentially purchase:
- Clarinets: 1 Box of Rico brand reeds, strength 1.5-2
- Saxophones: 1 Box of Rico brand reeds, strength 1.5-2
- Percussion: Salyers percussion Marimba Mallet Medium Yarn, Minl Standard Drum Stick Pair. Both can be found at Music Depot
- Brass: A washcloth to collect condensation, to be washed weekly
- Orchestra: Rosin (violin, viola, cello)
- Violins/Violas: Shoulder rest
- All Instruments: 1 box of facial tissue
Classroom sets of the following method books will be issued to students to borrow for the school year. If band or orchestra students would like their own book, they may purchase one at a music store or online. 6th graders will know which instrument-specific book to buy during the first week of school.
- Essential Elements for Strings, book 1 (6th grade violin, viola, cello, and bass players)
- Essential Elements for Strings, book 2 (7th and 8th grade violin, viola, cello, and bass players)
- Tradition of Excellence, book 1 (6th grade flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion players)
